Early Ohio County Settlers


Early Ohio County Settlers -- William Makel "Make" Miller (1806-1886) and his wife, Mary "Polly" Mitchell Miller (1810-1886), were the parents of twelve children and the common ancestors of scores of present-day Ohio Countians.

"Uncle Make" was a founded of the railroad town of Horse Branch in Ohio County.

He built the first house in Horse Branch, served as justice of the peace, and was appointed the town's first postmaster in 1871.
