Elizabeth was a full Cherokee and wasn't allowed to sign her name with a capital E. or P. She was called Lizza. Need to know why her dau., Nancy, b. 1/28/1885, d. 4/9/1915, was a Hembree when Elizabeth was a Perkins. An M. Perkins was a witness on the marriage certificate. James had to pay $100 bond to m. Need info. on Lawrence Johnson and family. Lawrence was my g. grandfather, b. in Union City, Madison Co., Ky., on 4/20/1889 to Robert and Mary Elizabeth Winkler Johnson who later lived on Dodd Rd., Madison Co. Lawrence had one bro., Irven, and two sisters, Hattie Johnson Rainer and Lillie Taylor Johnson. Lawrence m. Nanosie White on 6/27/1905. Five children: Marry F., Saddie, Mattie (?), Ethel, and Robert Johnson. Lawrence and Nanosie moved to Benham/Lynch, Ky. Lawrence was supervisor for International Harvester. He was shot and killed in 1937-38 during a strike over labor disputes with the union.
