Each month, The Kentucky Explorer magazine receives literally scores of letters from our faithful readers. Among those letters we often find queries, ranging from requests for words to songs and poems to trying to locate former classmates and military buddies of long ago.
Here are a few queries from July-August 2006
Searching For A Friend
Dear Editor:
I am seeking information on Shirley A. White. I went to school with her at Buckhorn High School in Perry County.
The last time I saw her was in Winchester, Clark County, Kentucky.

Celebrate 86 Years
Dear Editor:
My mother, Marie Haddix, will be 86 years young on August 22, 2006. I would appreciate any cards Kentucky Explorer readers could send to her. She and my father lived many years in Breathitt and Perry counties. She returns when possible to the old homeplace to lay flowers on my father's grave.
Mother resides at 1000 Sparta Street, McMinnville, TN 37110.

Dear Editor:
I collect old paper items such as soldier's letters, military documents, maps, pictures, prints, posters, flyers (advertising events), books, old political posters, and illustrated sheet music.
If any reader wants to send old material made of paper, it would be greatly appreciated.

Tobacco Worm Bean
Seeds Wanted
Dear Editor:
I would like to buy some tobacco worm bean seeds. I always purchased the seed at Hardy Bros. Store in Irvine, Estill County, Kentucky, but the store isn't in business anymore. People in the county raised these beans and brought the seed to the store to sell. I have asked at several stores, but the seed is not available.
I would like to have about a pint of these seeds, if anyone has any for sale.
