BOOK FOR SALE: I have researched and compiled records on my Gough ancestors and believe I am a descendant of William Goffe (Gough), one of the English judges who signed the death warrant for King Charles I. My book, Descendants Of A Regicide was published in 2005 by Trafford Publishing Ltd., Victoria, and BC, Canada. Regicide, (Latin, King Killer), the name given the judges responsible for the trial and execution of King Charles I in 1649. After the Restoration (1660) of the monarchy they were accepted from general pardon granted by the act of indemnity. At that time 41 of the 59 signers of the king death warrant were still alive. Fifteen of them fled: General William Goffe, John Dixwell, and General Whalley went to New England; several went to Germany, Holland, and Switzerland. Nine of those who signed the warrant were hanged; six others, who were deemed less politically dangerous, were imprisoned for life and some were later reprieved. General William Goffe could be my first relative in America. You can review my book at: Trafford.com/04-2518
