Thecla Bailey, 574 Sheridan Drive, Lexington, KY 40503; 859/278-5268, shares this photo taken in June 1936 at a roadside store in the Blue Licks vicinity of Nicholas County, Kentucky. Pictured, seated l-r: Margie Bowles Bailey and David Carl Bailey (Thecla's parents). Margie was pregnant with Thecla when this photo was taken. Lucille Campbell and an unknown man are standing behind the counter. Thecla would appreciate hearing from anyone who can identify the unknown man.



On July 4, 1908, this group was on old Board's Ferry on the Green River near Cromwell, Ohio County, Kentucky. Clarence Amos, ran the ferry for several years. Martine Jackson, 1125 Old Main Street, Hartford, KY 42347, granddaughter of Clarence Amos, shares this photo with our readers.




Grace Yoder, 129 Cypress Lane, Leesburg, GA 31763, shares this photo of a L&N Railroad crew in Hazard, Perry County, Kentucky, taken ca. 1955. Pictured, l-r: Oscar Smith, Floyd Baker, Dee Gibson, Charlie Whitney, Harlan Short, Ray Morgan, Harlan Griffin, Doc Larkey, and Bartle Melton. Grace's parents were Bartle and Maud Melton. Maud's parents were Matelda and Pete Standafer of Big Willard in Perry County. Grace had one sister, Gladys Boggs, who went to school at Combs. Grace went through the sixth grade there, then the family moved to Hazard. Grace graduated from Hazard High in 1942. After Gladys and Grace left home their parents moved to Walkertown. Bartle worked for the L&N Railroad from 1922 until he retired in 1960. After retirement Bartle and Maud moved to Florida. Maud passed away in 1980 and Bartle in 1981. Maud was known in the Hazard and Walkertown area as "Granny Melton." Gladys and Grace now live in Albany and Leesburg, Georgia, respectively.

Jerri Fryar, 2009 Pine Bough, Rio Rancho, NM 87124; [email protected], shares this photo with our readers with the hopes of identifying some of the people. Seated on the right is Bird Campbell, with his wife, Mary Ellen Campbell, standing behind him. Bird and Mary lived in the Putnam Ridge area of Adair County, Kentucky, in the early 1900s (the photo was taken at this time). Jerri would like to have more information on the other people.
