Polar Bear Plant Workers, 1927

This photo of a work crew at the old Polar Bear plant in Middletown, Ohio, in 1927 features many Kentuckians. Ethel Simpkins Clay of Menifee County is seen in the front row, fifth person from the right. Clay, who is the aunt of the submitter, was born and reared at Kenderick Ridge. The Polar Bear was shut down in 1953, and the building was torn down soon after that.
