Noted photographer, the late Earl Palmer, took this photograph of the Kingdom Come Grade School around 1940. On the back Earl wrote, "Kingdom Come School, in a remote area of Letcher County, is a throwback to a time when one-room schools were common, when all eight grades were taught in one room."
