Scene at Waco, Madison County, ca. 1916

When this Main Street photo was made some 85 years ago, the little Madison County town of Waco looked like a typical town of that era. With its dirt streets, horse hitching posts, and large front porches along the street, it must have been a treat to visit. Located between Richmond and Irvine, Waco remains an active community, though visitors would be hard-pressed to recognize any of these buildings today. New Highway 52 by-passes the Main Street area of the town.
