Asbridge Fluorspar Mines, in 1913

Mining fluorspar was hard work when this photo was taken in 1913 at the Asbridge Mines. Note the tools some of the men are holding: picks, shovels, sledge hammers, and ramrods. A few are wearing carbide lamps on their work hats. All are dressed for hard work. The man sitting last on the right is William Floyd Simpkins, the grandfather of R. Stanley Simpkins who shares this photo.
