Combs
Our Combs family story goes: Henry Combs had 3 bros., Jim, John, and
Billy. Also several sisters, one named Rose. Henry and Jim rode horseback
from their birthplace in Harlan Co., Ky., to Grant Co., Ky., to work for
a Chipman man. John and Billy came later. Henry never saw his parents again,
but the others traveled back and forth. Does this story match that of anyone
else? Henry is on the 1880 Grant Co. census but not in 1870. He m. Harriett
Isaacs on 8/27/1868, Grant Co., perhaps on an earlier trip? Henry was b.
ca. 1851; Harriett ca. 1851. Henry d. ca. 1896, and he and Harriett are
buried in the Grassy Run Cemetery, near Williamstown, Grant Co. Can anyone
